there's no preloader, so you might want to download to desktop or let it run through once first...

wow. 30fps. this was a pain in the ass to make. there were a lot of setbacks too, like accidental overwrites etc. don't think i'll work at this speed for free work anymore.

the next part's animation quackery, if you're not really into this stuff, you might want to skip it-

---

okay, i've been playing with a new technique. until now i've been a strong advocate of the "animate EEEEVERYTHING" school of thought, with everything hand-done with no tweens. this is kind of a halfway point. i'm animating pretty much every second or third frame (at 30fps), with the inbetweens all transforms of the keys...sometime's it's a composite multi-frame transform, for example, in one of ranoshi's sword strokes, his body moves over 3 frames, or something, and his arms move over double that number.

here's a slo mo so you can see what i'm talkin' 'bout- [link]

i'm not entirely convinced i like the look of it, especially for angle work, like the first sword stroke, it's a little...'slidy'...things seem to just glide across the frame. it kinda reminds me of flash kids tv shows. except that i'm not really using the same symbols over and over, instead just transforming keys to avoid redrawing them...it's still kinda lazy. thoughts? your experiences with "lazy inbetweens"?

---

i hope i win.

actually, i just hope that i get a counter entry this time...(not looking at anyone in particular (coughcough))

you can find :iconhotclipse:'s ref for ranoshi here- [link]

and mori's page is here- [link]

oh, hey, and if you saw the preview thumbnail image, the full sized version with no text over the top is here- [link]

you can double frame 30 fps and it'll still be smooth enough for your eyes.

30 fps is for like 3D animation and such, you should stick to 24 or 25 lol
:icondojang:
thanks very much!

(fast reply, too...all those empty spots for links are fixed now...)

new, improved, and back from japan!
:icondojang:

Looks pretty good!

And, "lazy inbetweens"? Like, on cheapy cartoons?

Who would've guessed that everyone in school was a professional dancer?
:iconrufious:
Is it me or does Mori seem to be permanently pissed. Up to now I've never seen him smile or even get out of that frown :D Anyway awesome animation though some moves aren't always clear. But then I've yet to see a fight that was :D

Guilty of the crime of living

Nice, nice... this must've taken a lot of work

But do I notice some tweens there?

Does my art fondle you mind?
:iconhikui-hito:
noooo, i mean double frame your frame by frame part. 15 fps for fbf is probably smooth enough. But keep 30 fps anyway because when you tween in 30 fps, the smoothness is BEASTLIKE.

So yeah, 30 fps, double frame fbf, normal tween whenever you can
